I can’t decide if I would really enjoy this as a room or if it would be horrendously claustrophobic.

TOO COOL

Riomaggiore is one of the five villages known as the Cinque Terre which lie along the coast of the Italian Riviera. The villages are connected by paths, trains, and boats and unreachable by car. (photo by Lee Coursey)
I’ve been to all five!
Chinese
I had my first Chinese class yesterday.
I do not like to say that languages are difficult, because I just don’t believe that. They take time and motivation, but those things are a lot different from difficulty.
That being said, Chinese is a lot more physically challenging than I thought it would be. The sounds we practiced are ones that I can’t say I’ve ever made before, and after only 15 minutes or so, my mouth was actually sore. Like, the muscles in my mouth hurt.
I’m really excited about this. Well, not the mouth bit, but learning Chinese. It’s so wildly different from any language I’ve learned or studied, and I feel like this will be a real test of my mental abilities. I have nothing to start from.
It’s also a really beautiful language, both in writing and in sound. Sometimes, my teacher sounds like she’s almost singing. How cool is that?
